On October 20 at 6:00pm we are excited to offer our virtual Frameworks Parent Workshop on helping our children with their emotions. This is the same session as the one offered on October 13 at Cristo Rey.

On October 13 at 6:00pm we are excited to offer our first Frameworks Parent Workshop on helping our children with understanding and managing emotions in positive ways. We are partnering with Cristo Rey Tampa Catholic School to offer this session in person. 

If you are interested in attending, please go to Cristo Rey Tampa at 6:00pm on Thursday, October 13 for the session.

We will offer the same session virtually on Thursday, October 20. More information about that will come next week.

El 13 de octubre a las 6,00pm estamos emocionados de ofrecer nuestro primer Taller para Padres de Frameworks sobre cómo ayudar a nuestros hijos/hijas a comprender y manejar las emociones en una manera positiva. Nos asociamos con la Escuela Católica Cristo Rey Tampa para ofrecer esta sesión en persona.

Si está interesado en asistir, vaya a Cristo Rey Tampa a las 6:00pm el jueves 13 de octubre para la sesión.

Blessing of the Animals

Dear Parents/Queridos Padres,

This Tuesday, October 4, is the Feast of St. Francis.  In honor of St. Francis, we will have our annual Blessing of the Animals.  If you are interested in having your pet blessed, please bring it to school at 2:15pm on a leash or appropriately stored.  If you cannot bring your pet to be blessed, your child may bring a picture or draw a picture of the animal instead.

See you back in school tomorrow, Monday, October 3.

Este martes 4 de octubre, es la fiesta de San Francisco. En honor a San Francisco, tendremos nuestra bendición anual de los animales. Si está interesado en que su mascota sea bendecida, tráigala a la escuela a las 2:15pm con una correa o guárdela adecuadamente. Si no puede traer a su mascota para ser bendecida, su hijo puede traer una imagen o dibujar una imagen del animal.

Nos vemos de vuelta en la escuela mañana, lunes 3 de octubre.

St. Joseph will reopen for classes on Monday, October 3.

While the school lost power for a time and there is some minor damage to the campus, we have been fortunate to avoid any major harm. 

We pray for a safe weekend for all of you, your families, and all others suffering from the impact of Hurricane Ian.

Dear parents/Queridos padres,

Bishop Parkes and the Diocese of St. Petersburg have decided to close St. Joseph from Tuesday, September 27 to Thursday, September 29 to allow time to prepare for the storm. Nothing has been decided regarding Friday, September 30.

Teachers will post assignments each day in their Google Classroom, Remind, or Seesaw accounts. If there are questions, send a message to the teacher via Google Classroom or Remind between 8:00am and 3:00pm for a teacher response. The teacher may not respond outside those hours or if they have lost internet access.

A link for attendance will be texted home each morning.

There will not be Zoom instruction nor Zoom office hours.

We pray for a safe week for all of you, your families, and all others in the path of Hurricane Ian.

El obispo Parkes y la Diócesis de St. Petersburg han decidido cerrar St. Joseph desde el martes 27 de septiembre hasta el jueves 29 de septiembre para tener tiempo de prepararse para la tormenta. No se ha decidido nada respecto al viernes 30 de septiembre.

Student Health Update

Dear Parents/Queridos Padres,

Today, September 16, almost 60 students, or 20% of the total students, are absent.

During this past week, many students were home due to illness. A few of the students have had COVID-19, but most of the cases reported have been positive for Flu type A.

Please monitor your child for symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, stomach pain, and headache, and do not send them to school if they are sick and/or symptomatic. We do not want them to spread illness to their classmates and teachers.

Hoy, 16 de septiembre, faltan casi 60 estudiantes, o sea el 20% del total de estudiantes.

Durante la semana pasada, muchos estudiantes fueron en casa debido a una enfermedad. Algunos de los estudiantes han tenido COVID-19, pero la mayoría de los casos informados han sido positivos para la gripe tipo A.

Observe a su hijo para detectar síntomas como fiebre, dolor de garganta, tos, dolor de estómago y dolor de cabeza, y no lo envíe a la escuela si está enfermo o si  tiene síntomas. No queremos que contagien enfermedades a sus compañeros y maestros.

Dear Parents/Queridos Padres,

The annual Parent Meeting for Kindergarten to 8^th Grade is Thursday, August 25, at 6:00pm in the cafeteria.  There will be three sessions.

• If you prefer an English presentation, you will report to the cafeteria first, then your child’s classroom afterwards for a presentation from your child’s teacher.
• If you prefer a Spanish presentation, you will report to your child’s classroom first.
• After about 20 minutes, we will rotate sessions, and the Spanish presentation will take place in the cafeteria while those that prefer English can go to the classrooms.
• After another 20 minutes, you will have the opportunity to meet with the rest of your child’s teachers if you have more than one.

This is also a reminder that this Friday is Noon Dismissal for Kindergarten to 8^th grade and, 11:30am dismissal for VPK.

La reunión anual de padres para Kindergarten a 8vo grado es el jueves 25 de agosto a las 6:00 p. m. en la cafetería. Habrá tres sesiones.

• Si prefiere una presentación en inglés, primero se presentará en la cafetería y luego en el salón de clases de su hijo para una presentación del maestro de su hijo.
• Si prefiere una presentación en español, primero se presentará en el salón de clases de su hijo.
• Después de unos 20 minutos, rotaremos las sesiones y la presentación en español se llevará a cabo en la cafetería, mientras que aquellos que prefieran inglés pueden ir a las aulas.
• Después de otros 20 minutos, tendrá la oportunidad de reunirse con el resto de los maestros de su hijo si tiene más de uno.

Este es también un recordatorio de que este viernes es la salida al mediodía para Kindergarten hasta el 8.° grado y la salida a las 11:30am para VPK.

Back to School 2022

We are excited to welcome everyone back to school in a couple of weeks after a much needed summer break.

If you never received your summer packet, stop by the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 8:30am to 1:00pm.

A few upcoming dates to keep in mind for Kindergarten to 8^th grade students:

• August 4, 2022 (1:00pm-6:00pm): Parents may drop off their supplies and meet their teacher(s) for the next school year.
• August 8, 2022: First day of school
• August 25, 2022 (6:00pm-7:30pm): All Parent Meeting

Estamos emocionados de darles la bienvenida a todos en la  escuela en un par de semanas después de unas vacaciones de verano muy necesarias.

Si nunca recibió su paquete de verano, pase por la oficina el martes, miércoles o jueves de 8:30am a 1:00pm.

Algunas fechas próximas a tener en cuenta para los estudiantes de jardín de infantes a octavo grado:

• 4 de agosto de 2022 (1:00 pm a 6:00 pm): los padres pueden dejar sus útiles y reunirse con sus maestros para el próximo año escolar.
• 8 de agosto de 2022: primer día de clases
