Eclipse - Monday, August 21

Dear Parents,

As many of you are aware this Monday, August 21 we will be having a solar eclipse. In the Tampa Bay Area the eclipse will occur between 1:17 pm and 4:14 pm with the darkest period projected for 2:49.  Since this time is central to our dismissal time, we will have voluntary noon dismissal on Monday.  If you choose, you may pick up your student from carline at noon on Monday.  All students staying for the remainder of the school day will continue school activities indoors.

  • We are asking all parents/guardians to use an abundance of caution while driving during the time of the eclipse, and to be especially careful in carline line.
  • Students and parents/guardians should not look directly at the sun as this can cause serious damage to your eyes or even blindness. Sunglasses do not work.
  • There will be no afternoon outside recess on Monday, August 21st, due to the solar eclipse.
  • All after school sports have been CANCELED on Monday, August 21st, due to the solar eclipse.
  • Extended Day will remain OPEN, but all students will be staying inside a designated classroom on Monday, August 21st, due to the solar eclipse.

Queridos padres,
